What are the components found in an e-cigarette?

There are several different types of e-cigarettes and the way they look as well as their functionality may differ slightly from device to device.

With that, whether they are disposable or re-usable, pre-filled or refillable, compact or complex, most vaping gadgets would have the following key components:

·         Atomizer. An atomizer is basically a miniature coil that is used to heat up the e-liquid and create the vapor that you will then inhale.

·         Battery. Every vaping gadget needs a power supply to activate its atomizer. Some come with small capacity batteries (like a 200mAh battery on the iQ Air) while others sport more substantial setups (like iQ One with its 1100mAh battery). 

·         Mouthpiece. This is the top part of the e-cig — and the part of your vaping gadget that you have the most interaction with. You use the mouthpiece to inhale the vapor produced by your e-cigarette. Mouthpieces are typically made of glass, plastic (polycarbonate plastic) or rubber.

·         E-liquid. Naturally, e-liquid is an essential part of your vaping experience. In some devices, you will need to refill the e-liquid manually while others use disposable or refillable pods that are simply inserted into the device. 

Most e-liquids would typically have the following key components: PG (propylene glycol) or VG (vegetable glycerin) juice, nicotine (optional; can be present in various concentrations) and flavorings.

What features should you look for in an e-cigarette?

The specific features and functionality you will look for in your vape pen depend on your vaping preferences. With that, there are some things to pay attention to all of your vape devices. 

For instance, your e-cigarettes should come with all the key safety features such as overuse protection, short circuit protection, low resistance protection, low voltage protection, etc.

Other features to look into would be:

·         E-liquid compatibility: whether you can vape free-base or nic salt e-liquids on the device (or both)

·         Battery life: depending on your vaping preferences, you may look for a device that lets you vape long without recharging (then look for large capacity batteries upwards of 1000mAh) or you may prefer something compact and are willing to sacrifice some battery life.

·         Use: are you looking for a vape pen like iQ Air that has no buttons is draw-activated or do you prefer to have some customization options like with iQ Viva where you can adjust your vape intensity?
