Why is my pod system getting hot? Is it dangerous?
Overheating is a problem typically
associated with large complicated box mods - this is one of the many reasons
why new vapers opt for pod systems, which require much less maintenance work.
However, even your compact and light pod system can occasionally overheat.
Apart from interrupting your vaping session, an overheated mod can be
very dangerous and even result in a battery explosion.
How do I know my pod system is overheating?
Your pod system is overheating when:
● The first and most obvious sign that your mod is overheating is that it
becomes hot to the touch. It’s okay if your device gets warm as you are vaping
but it should never be uncomfortably hot or difficult to hold. If at any time
your pod system gets this hot, put it down immediately and let it cool down.
● Another sign that something may be wrong is if your pod looks like
there is steam inside it. This is a common sign that your coil is overheating
along with your battery and, once again, the safest recommendation here would
be to stop using your vaping device immediately until the problem has been
resolved.
● Finally, a very clear indication that your mod is overheated is when it
simply stops working. If your battery is overdrawn, it will not be able to
deliver enough power for the device to function.
Why did my pod
system gets overheated?
There are several reasons why this may happen:
● Something as simple as leaving your mod in a hot place (under direct
sun rays, on the window, atop a hot surface, etc.) may cause it to overheat.
● You may be vaping too much. Chain vaping is a common cause of battery
problems as your battery and coil do not get enough time to “recover” in
between your vaping sessions.
● Yet another reason could be internal problems with your vaping gadget:
if one of the components is (even slightly) out of place, the device may get
overheated. For example, if your coil is loose and it’s making too much contact
with the battery, your pod system may get hot.
● Charging your battery for too long (for instance, leaving it to charge
overnight) can also lead to overeating.
What should I
do when my pod system gets overheated?
So, your pod system feels really hot to the touch.
What should you do?
● First, stop vaping immediately, put down your vaping gadget and place
it in a cool and dark area.
● After about an hour, check if your vaping device has cooled down. If it
has, take it apart and check if all the components are in order and properly
aligned. If you notice that any component of your vaping gear has been damaged
or melted (which can occur if your gadget gets really hot), make sure to
replace it before vaping again.
Tips to not let
your pod system overheat
There are several preventative steps you can take to
significantly lessen the risks of your system overheating:
● Avoid overcharging: do not leave your vaping device to charge
overnight. Check how much time it takes for your vaping device to get to full
charge and unplug it after the battery is full.
● Keep your vaping gear in a cool place and away from direct sunlight.
● From time to time, take your vaping gadget apart and check if all the
components are properly aligned.
● If you chain vape, reconsider this habit or be ready to change vaping
devices frequently. In addition to being a strain on your battery, chain vaping
will also wear out your coil — thus, the habit does come with some extra
spending. If you don’t want to stop chain vaping, at least, try taking longer
breaks in between vaping sessions to give your battery and coil enough time to
cool down.
